I am sure we could all think of at least one positive change we could make to our diet. Go ahead, think about it.

Maybe we would adjust the size of the portions we eat at each meal. Maybe we want to eat more fresh fruits and vegetables. Maybe we feel like cutting out some of the high sodium or high carbohydrate foods we eat. Maybe we want to reduce the number of toxins we put into our body. I know that I would benefit from eating less sweets.

This was the question I posed today to my 11th grade Modern World History class. “What is peace?”

This question has a context in our class. The semester long question that we are examining is “How do we work towards world peace?” We have been examining how major events in recent history have contributed to or led us away from peace. Yet we had not yet taken the time to determine “What is Peace?”

After working individually, in small groups, and as a whole class, three primary definitions for peace arose from the students. Not everyone agreed on these conditions, and you will notice that two of them seem to contradict each other. Nonetheless, here is what they came up with:

I believe we can interpret this common phrase two ways. First, it is during hard times when those with true strength step up and demonstrate their courage, endurance, and determination. There is a saying that we only have heros during times of war. This does not mean that people cannot show strength during times of peace, but rather that it is during difficult times that we really see who has an outstanding character.

A treasure to have during this cold season. Composed of a wonderful dozen plus chinese herbs, Cold Snap works to direct your chi to a more balanced state. It does not try to suppress your symptoms. I find it works best during the early stages of a cold, although I take it throughout the course of my colds. I have also heard of people taking it for purely preventative measures.

Cold Snap comes in two forms, capsules and powder. A note to vegetarians, the capsules have gelatin in them. I was only able to find the capsule form at my local Whole Foods, but you can order the powder from the OHCO website.

See a full list of the OHCO herbal products and order online.
