Remain Teachable

I just attended two dear friends wedding today, and understand even more than before why some people love weddings so much.

Of the many heartfilled memories I have of the afternoon is one in particular.  During the reading of the vows, the couple said,

I promise to remain teachable.

How dear, I thought.  How deep, I reflect.  To remain teachable means that we do not put up walls, we do not limit ourselves, and we do not become stuck in bad habits.  Included in this promise was the agreement to do the their best to guide, inspire, and encourage one another as they continue their journey together.

I thank my friends dearly for the opportunity to attend such a touching ceremony.  I pray that we may all remain teachable.
